Concrete and bread Pendulum Casting at the Aldeburgh Match

Postby Bread » Sun Oct 19, 2008 8:27 pm

While fishing the Aldeburgh Blind Match today, we decided we would try out the new Nokia N96 and capture some casting to post up on the site.

The first clip is Concrete using a DVice and blasting it into the horizon.

And now ..... introducing the bread version with 3 frozen balcks and a squid head with 6ozs

Golden bollox doesnt quite get it right if you ask me- what he needs is a lesson from Eccles in how to cast proper- apparently he's been teaching Rog Mortimore how to improve his OTG style and i'm sure GB could learn a thing or two- if he wants i can put him in touch with Eccles- he's on sea-fishing.org

We fished the Town beach and not to put too fine a point on it- it was shite- George Smith won our section with an array of baits - i didnt bother to weigh in my one sizeable whiting- never mind there's always next year

yep-it was pretty crap, but still, it was a good day out.

Do you prefer the SLR+ to the Kompressor though ?

Yes - I think that all worked out for the best in the end- What I liked about the Kompressor was the ease with which the tip controlled the lead but after I got used to the Nemesis tip it and stopped worrying about the shingle bank behind it felt really good- you need to keep your left arm more straight- and practise the punch pull- other than that your technique looks really good- you get the lead up high and hit it but if your left arm stays straighter you'll be there..just my opinion but remember GB's technique is his own

I agree Stu - I was trying to avoid the shingle bank though so went over the top a bit - it's difficult to get the punch pull in when its like that.

I did a much better one from the top of the shingle though - but didn't get it on video. Next time, we'll take a video of you as well so you can also see what you look like.

Glad you like the new rod.

I had the same problem as you mate till I got told to go for it and forget about the shingle bank - I was doing the same as you with my left arm because I WAS SCARED OF HITTING the shingle AND MAKING MYSELF LOOK A TIT- but once i relaxed and went for it I didnt hit the shingle once- even when I let loose

But if you follow the rabbi (or rabbit or what king ever he calls himself) you are probably overcasting - the cod were at the effing hot dog stall behind you

By the way....did you know that the gears of a fixed spool are behind the bloody spool ... and they are made of plastic!!!!

Bloody Dire Site, totally DIRE!!!! Its like asking a bunch of amoeba advice about brain surgery or nuclear physics. :x

Shocking- absolutely shocking- really we should have put our rods away and handlined- saying that we'd prob still have gone past the fish. Again - same old story- you never see any catch reports from them- just advice about where everyone else is going wrong

The gears on a fixed spool reel, are really easy Mr Blakdog.

Bail arm off = neutral
Bail arm on = first gear
The clippy thing that allows you to back-wind = reverse

quite complicated really, and much better to use the automatics - such as the Penn 525 which was built by robots in 1989 or the 7HT Turbo, which has a lowered spool and built in MP3 player.
